the imagination in a new poster for PETA. Serratos proudly declares that she
would rather go naked than wear fur, and she evidently means it. The 19 year-old

with no problem showing off her derriere.

'TwiLite:A Parody' Pokes Fun at Stephenie Meyer's 'Twilight'

TwiLite: A Parody has recently been released by author Stephen Jenner. Although I, myself, have not yet read this book, I'm looking forward to it based on Amanda Bell's review and the content of Mr. Jenner's website.

Amanda has this to say about the 165 page book that parodies Stephenie Meyer's Twilight:

Initially flustered by competing urges to either slap Jenner in the face or to award him some sort of medal for hilarity, a few lingering reminiscent laughs have led me to the resounding conclusion that Twilite is, indeed, quite a good read for fans of Meyer’s series (that is, those with an elastic imagination and a daft sense of humor).

The first few pages, to say the least, are disorienting. Twilite submerges the reader, without pause, into the zany world that is Sporks, Washington – a droll place, for sure. Propelling the characters into virtually unrecognizable beings, at times, Twilite takes the Twilight fan out of his or her zone of comfort and thrusts him or her into the life and mindset of the less-than-stellar Stella Crow as she pursues the very weird Edweird. The plot mirrors the story in Twilight (albeit loosely), but the Twilite journey is quite distinct. Once past the initial shock of the cataclysmic distinction between, say, the Cullens and the Sullens, the book is a snort-wrenching laugh-fest.

Jenner's site is a hysterical must visit, filled with exerpts from the book such as this "First glimpse of Dr. Carpile Sullen, M.D.":

“Is she…dead?” asked Dr. Carpile Sullen, visiting surgeon at Sporks Community Medical Hospital. Dr. Sullen had just entered my hospital room, carrying a clipboard and a book of Mad Libs.
I sat up from my bed and put down the New York Times bestseller An Idiots Guide to Vampires and Werewolves. I looked up at the doctor, feebly forcing a smile on my face.
“I kid, I kid!” He blurted out, laughing so hard that his copy of Cracked Magazine flew out of his hand. “Hey, you don’t get an honorary medical degree from Sporks Community College Correspondence Medical School and Male Modeling University without developing a sense of humor.”
Dr. Sullen then pivoted around to examine himself in the full-length mirror attached to the closet door. He pouted his perfect plump lips, ran his hands through his brown, wavy hair, admiring his perfectly tanned complexion. He adjusted his Speedo under his cotton shorts, and ran his hands up and down his freshly shaven, ultra smooth legs. He smiled and winked at his own reflection. He was looking oh-so-fine, and he knew it. What was most puzzling to me, though, was why he was wearing shorts in the winter.

The Examiner Shares her Experiences with Bobby Long & Sam Bradley

Amanda Bell, the Twilight Examiner, was blessed to spend a couple evenings with Bobby Long & Sam Bradley while in Nashville last week. Let's listen in to the excitement and entertainment of the nights, as well as, the respect and pride these two amazing men share for each other.

Walking into 3rd and Lindsley on the first night of their shared performance, the atmosphere of the entire place is decadent with peace and adoration. Hundreds of fans sit and stand in awe of the powerful radiance on-stage as Bobby Long strums his fingers across the strings and propels the inertia of his soul with the voice of each song. Between pieces, gentle anecdotes and off-the-cuff quips about his love of performance and the gratitude of his circumstance put smiles on the faces and warmth into the hearts of all within earshot.

Long explains that when he was introduced to Sam, Robert Pattinson, and Marcus Foster by Phil Taylor, he was nervous because the three had a long-standing friendship dating back to their schooldays. Yet, says Bobby, he was welcomed to the group without incident, and they have been close ever since. When Mark shows interest in the fact that Sam and Bobby have not always been musicians, yet they are quite skilled and disciplined, Long explains, “I just looked at the guitar and said, ‘I will play you.’” Continues Long, “it’s a weird sort of work ethic. As soon as I’m done with one show, it’s like all I can think about is tomorrow - the next one.” Sealed with a sturdy embrace, Long and Bradley make their way back inside.

Long tells me of the precariousness of a performing artist’s mindset. Says he, “it’s like your brain is split in two. On the one side,” he says placing his hand above his left eye, “you’re concentrating on the words, the notes of the song and your performance, and on the other,” pulling his hand to the right, “you’re watching the crowd, seeing their reactions, and hoping they’re enjoying your work.”

Cool and collected, Sam Bradley has his game face on. Explaining that he wants to start with one that is not his favorite, he begins with “You Think You’re Free,” and has his audience captivated from the start. With subtle coordination, the next song, “Whiskey,” is accompanied with a readied hand to bring him a glass of the same by his friend. The laughter and smiles take hold of the place, and Bradley is no exception. He treats the crowd with a surprise song that he never plays, but which he claims is available on Reverb Nation, “Paradise.” His fans are unabashedly thrilled. Before performing his song “Too Far Gone,” Bradley tells the audience that “the girl that this was written about called me today. She saw me on TV. Now she wants to talk.” As the audience chimes in to fill the space where Bradley’s words would be, he smiles with accomplished delight and simply says, “it’s magic.” Bradley also takes the crowd back a few decades as he proves the powerful range of his beautiful voice by singing “That’s How Strong My Love Is” by O.V. Wright. Technically superb and soulfully delivered, the song’s beauty is unforgettable, and it only strengthens the crowd’s want for more.

Gripping the audience from his very first word of introduction, Long delivers on his very well thought-out set list from song one. Progressing from his more calm and surrendering pieces like “So Tear Me Up” and “Being a Mockingbird” to more involved and cogent pieces such as “Dead and Done” and “Who Have You Been Loving” (which he dedicated to Sam Bradley), Long’s performance is fluid and transformative. Clearly, the flow was intentional and selective. Though he had said at the house he was planning on only ten songs, by the twelfth song, Long is still amped and ready to go. He turns around and walks toward the closing curtains, matched with muffled groans of sorrow from the audience, only to turn back around with a harmonica in hand. Wrapping its holster around his head, the audience bursts into excited applause. They know what this means; it means he’ll be performing “Dublin’s There for Me.” With many thanks to the audience once more, he explains that he hasn’t done the song in a while (the reason, he would later explain to me, is because he “sort of forgot about it”). With the first sharp note from the harmonica, tears careen down a nearby woman’s face as she watches and listens in awe.

Nino: How do you feel about the Twilight Fan Community?

Amanda: The Twilight fan community is amazing. Talk about a group of the most intelligent, interesting, compassionate, generous, and loyal people and then spanse it across the entire world - amazing, simply amazing. Not to mention, the Twilight community is fierce. When something needs to get done, it gets done (and well). Not a day goes by that I’m not just consistently bewildered by what is accomplished within it.

Nino: I also noticed that your articles just come out like rain, they never stop and hey, we love you for that. But do you ever have time to sleep?

Amanda: Haha. Funny you should ask. Yes, I do sleep… but I love to write, especially about Twilight. It’s the first job I’ve ever had that I truly love. Reading the comments and responses that the articles get (positive or negative - though I’ve been fortunate that they’re mostly positive, and I am thankful for that - I read and appreciate every single one), my emails, and fansite references is so motivating. I can’t tell you how much of a compliment it is.

Bobby Long's US Tour Off To a Smokin' Start!

My beautiful friend, Miss Amanda Bell, chatted up Bobby Long's manager, Phil Taylor, about the US tour they've just embarked on.

According to Phil Taylor, the very first few days in the United States have been productive as well. “We did our first U.S. press junket at the Waldorf, which was wonderful . . . lovely people with interesting questions, all enjoying the moment.” Continues Phil, “fantastic business things are happening for us as well. It’s nonstop. We met with two major A and R heads yesterday, and two more were at the Arlene’s show last night. My mentor and long-time friend Vicky Wickham," who, by the way, was a driving force behind the success of Dusty Springfield, Morrissey, Hollyy Johnson, Patti Labelle, and many others, "came to the show as well. Bobby was introduced to her in wide-eyed delight. Yesterday, we also engaged the services of the ICM agency, and got booked for a great new show in the Hamptons by Nona Hendryx on the 11th of September. We hung out with the wonderful Mary McBride, who helped us both endlessly in the weeks during the run up to this little jaunt.”

Meanwhile, Bobby’s internet community has been buzzing as well. Says Phil, “Bobby’s MySpace has just over 40,000 hits, and I think he got 8,000 plays yesterday alone.” With additional shows to add to atop the already bulging tour schedule Phil and Bobby have lined up (which stretches from April to September, from sea to shining sea across this country), Phil Taylor says that there is even more to come, and that he will be updating us shortly.

New Moon Casting: Michael Sheen as Aro

Even though Michael Sheen is best known as playing a werewolf in the Underworld Series, Summit Entertainment has confirmed to play the vampire Aro in the Twilight Saga: New Moon. Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner have already begun filming New Moon in Vancouver.

The Examiner says:

Summit Entertainment has just confirmed that Michael Sheen has been
officially cast for The Twilight Saga: New Moon as Aro. Like others who have been recently added to the Twilight sequel cast, Sheen boasts an extraordinary resume, and from the looks of our discussion about him (see here and here to view the discussion and add your thoughts), fans are (mostly) pleased with the addition.
Sheen, who has previously been a werewolf in the Underworld series, will portray a vampire in The Twilight Saga: New Moon, and many fans see it as a good choice for his part. Aro, the character which Sheen will play in New Moon, is a centuries-old leader of the world's vampires, and, though playing a fairly small role in New Moon, becomes an essential character (a favorite to some) throughout the continued series.

I asked Sam if he and Robert Pattinson were up to anything together in Vancouver and he said that "yeah, we've written a really good song.”

About his up-coming album, there is no official release date, but what we can know, says Sam, “well, there are some songs that I have redone, like ‘Too Far Gone.’” Also, the album will feature guest writers such as Robert Pattinson (for his co-authorship of ‘Too Far Gone’) and Sam’s mother, whose song, Sam says, “she wrote with a few other people in England.”

So, as Sam Bradley’s list of up-coming tours continues to grow, and as the album nears completion, his fans have a lot to look forward to this year. After tomorrow's show in Vancouver Island, Sam will be appearing in Toronto next week (April 16th) followed by his two-day stint in Nashville, Tennessee alongside none other than the incredible Bobby Long. An up-to-date list of Sam’s confirmed shows are listed below, but fans should keep an eye on Sam Bradley’s MySpace and Twitter pages to stay current.

Will Eddie Propose?

The Examiner's, Amanda Bell, asks fans whether or not you think Edward will propose to Bella in The Twilight Saga's New Moon. Unlike in the Twilight book, they never even got around to saying "I love you" in the movie. So, how will they transition from two smitten teens that may-or may not-be in love to a proposal of marriage? The Examiner's Exclusive Interview with Jackson Rathbone

One of our absolutely favorite guys, Jackson Rathbone, chats up the Twilight Examiner, Amanda Bell. He's quite the comedian and reveals that, much like Robert Pattinson, the chicks led him on his career path. He talks about his character in the Twilight Saga, Jasper Hale, his music with 100 Monkeys, his role in the M. Night Shyamalan film, The Last Airbender, and his philosophy on life, happiness and fame. Great job, Amanda, and thanks for sharing our of love of Jackson.

With his wit in mind, I decided to ask Jackson about a concern that some fans, myself included, had about the potential for inconsistencies between his character in Twilight and New Moon. I asked, “In Twilight, Jasper was dancing around the fire while Bella bled out from her James-inflicted wounds, and in New Moon, a little papercut is supposed to send Jasper over the edge. Some fans worry that this inconsistency will de-legitimize some of the scenes in New Moon. How are you and the crew planning to handle this?” Jackson says,

It’s all in the old saying, ‘Location, location, location . . .’ Once you realize the immense animalistic impulses a vampire has, you realize . . . every little thing is more intense. The smell from a vampire-burning bonfire, the adrenaline from the kill, and the exhaustion from the chase . . . basically, in terms of scent, the difference is between a dance studio filled with smells [of] burning and violence, as opposed to the Cullen Family living room, which is filled with the smell of birthday cake. There is no inconsistency, don’t worry.

I asked Jackson about his upcoming role in The Last Airbender, and how he was preparing himself both mentally and physically for the role. Continuing his knack for repartee, Jackson says, “I’ve been training in various styles of Kung Fu since December, and I love it! It connects the body and mind in a way a textbook could never achieve . . . I can kill from 10 feet away with a spear . . . Purty sweeeeeetttt . . .” Best to stay back, then, fans – not only does his smile deceive, but he also has been brushing up on his martial arts and spearing capacities (that goes for you, especially, paparazzi).

Jackson added to his fans, “I wanna thank each and every one of you for existing! Without you, I’d be acting in an empty theatre . . . again. Much love, and respect.”

The Examiner's Exclusive Interview with Bobby Long's manager Phil "Sweet Lips" Taylor

As always, my girl, Amanda, gets all the great scoops! She recently chatted up Phil Taylor, Bobby Long's manager and here's a little of what he had to say.

Speaking of Bobby Long, I asked Phil what he thought it was that drew him to Bobby back in 2006. He said that Up All Night Open Mic has “[f]or years . . . been the place people have gravitated towards once they want to play live. It is connected to my production company Up All Night Music, so people know that if I like them at the open mic, they will get offered other London gigs and maybe a festival stage or two. One night, Bobby showed up wanting to play, and he seemed a very genuine, humble, and calm person, so I got him on the list. (You have to know there are often forty-five people who want to play, so obviously not everyone is going to get on. I have gotten very good at spotting talent by talking to people.) As he played the two songs (“A Passing Tale” and “This Strange Love) that people get to play, I was immediately struck by just how good his whole performance was.” Says Taylor of Bobby’s performance, it was “[n]ot just his lyrics, or his delivery, or [even] his phrasing and general charisma, but all these elements had been put together in a well thought-out and rounded package, bursting with fresh energy.”

Continues Taylor, “[a]fter only a few moments, the whole room was silent, listening to this great music. Once [Bobby] had come off-stage, I had to chat with him and found out it was his first day or week in London and that he did not know anyone at all in the city. I walked round this room full of talented musicians with him, introducing him to the stars of the scene that we had created. It was then that I introduced him to Marcus and Rob amongst several others.”

About Robert Pattinson, Phil Taylor says, “I had no idea that Robert was an actor. I’ve still not seen any of his films. I just knew that he is a great musician and a very good singer/song-writer. I had probably known Marcus and Rob for about a year or so when I introduced them to Bobby.”

Hopefully, we'll see it continue to skyrocket as his popularity grows with his upcoming American Tour. Sam Bradley's Beautiful Soul

My good friend and Examiner, Amanda Bell-God love her-has yet another amazing interview. This time she spoke with Sam Bradley, co-author with Robert Pattinson of 'Never Think' from the Twilight movie/soundtrack.

I asked Sam what inspired him to become a musician. Quite candidly, he stated that he draws a lot of his inspiration from his close friend Marcus Foster. Says Bradley, “It was a few things . . . Marcus Foster is a big inspiration because he was always, he started playing music really young, and I’ve sort of admired him. . . . I started late, but I always love listening to him and watching him.” Adds Bradley, there was a, “and kind of, in the healthy sort of way, competitive thing as well. I wanted to be as good as him. I wanted to be able to do it with him.” Another very personal source of inspiration to Bradley, says he, is “also my mum. She’s a singer/song-writer as well.”

I asked Sam if there was a point that he might be able to think of when he could take a step back and say “I’ve done what I wanted to do.” Beautifully put, Sam said

You mean, when I’d feel accomplished? In my life, I don’t really. I’d really like to think or hope that that day won’t come, especially musically… I mean, on a personal level, when I have a beautiful wife and children and a great family, you know, then I will, maybe then, on a personal level, have everything I’ve dreamed about, but I don’t think musically that day will ever come. I want to just keep creating, and I don’t think I’ll ever write my best song.

Though Sam Bradley may never write his best song, he does have a favorite, thus far. “Pretty Boy,” which “noone’s heard . . . yet,” says Sam, will be on the album he is currently completing.

When I asked Sam to pick one word to describe his personality, he said “hopeful. I like hopeful.” I also asked him if there was a question he’d yet to hear in an interview that he’d like to, he said “What’s my shoe size?” The answer? “Twelve,” he says with a clever chuckle.

Marcus Foster talks music, dreams and friends

The Twilight Examiner, Amanda Bell, gives us another terrific interview as she chats with Marcus Foster, co-author with Bobby Long of 'Let Me Sign' from the Twilight Soundtrack. Here are few tidbits...

To the talented and smooth-sounding singer, guitarist, and pianist, inspiration came when he "started out by playing piano." Says Marcus, "[at] about six or seven, I would learn songs my parents were playing me like the Beatles and Nina Simone. Eventually I began to learn guitar and started playing in blues clubs near where my dad lived. I discovered Tom Waits and he inspired me to write my own songs." It is some those same artists that continue to influence Marcus Foster to this very day. Says he, of his most prominent current influences, "[i]t changes all the time but Tom Waits and [Bob] Dylan are a constant influence."

As for his relationship with long-time friends Bobby Long, Sam Bradley (who co-authored "Never Think" from the soundtrack as well), and Twilight star Robert Pattinson, Marcus says "I went to school with Rob and Sam, and I have known Bobby for a few years now," and "they are my boys!" Clearly, their friendship still runs deep amidst the swarm of goings-on that would threaten to separate even the closest of friends.

Despite all of the Twilight stardom that has come upon Rob, Foster says "it's pretty crazy. It hasn't changed him at all. I'm proud."

Foster, who has a sense of humor akin in genuineness and solidarity to that of Pattinson, Long, and Bradley, said that his biggest dream is "to catch a really big fish." Clever, that one. When I challenged him to describe his personality in a word, Foster said, "I can't think of one word," and then finished by suggesting "indecisive?"

Marcus Foster closed with a warm message for his fans, saying that he hopes that they enjoy his music, to watch out for an up-coming EP to become available on iTunes and the web, and that he is "looking forward to [his] American tour." We are, too, Marcus Foster.

Twilight Wins Fandango's Fan Choice Award & New Moon is 2009's Most Anticipated Movie

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's acclaimed film - Twilight has won the Fandango Fan Choice Award.

Of 69,000 film fans who voted, 78% voted for Twilight as the favorite film of 2008 in a poll conducted by Fandango. Says Fandango, "Although it was not the top-grossing film of 2008 (that honor goes to the The Dark Knight), Twilight ended up receiving more fan votes than any other title and went on to win the award [with] a recent Fandango survey [showing] New Moon, the Twilight sequel set for release on November 20, . . . among 2009's most anticipated movies."

Bobby Long talks with The Twilight Examiner

The Twilight Examiner, Amanda Bell, had the great honor of interviewing singer/songwriter, Bobby Long. Bobby has such an incredible talent that can be heard in his soulful songs on his MySpace page. The Twilight Soundtrack available on iTunes also features Robert Pattinson singing 'Let Me Sign' which Bobby co-wrote with Marcus Foster.

When Amanda asked who his biggest influences are, he said that he "has a lot." "Brought up with all the old blues guys like Mississippi John Hurt and Robert Johnson and a lot of Jazz like Jack Teagarden and Louis Armstrong," Bobby loves "the Beatles, Bob Dylan," and other greats from the 1960's. Of all his favorites, though, when asked if he could play with anyone, dead or alive, whom he would choose, he said, "today, Gram Parsons."

Deluxe Twilight Soundtrack Just Released!

My beautiful friend, Amanda Bell, The Twilight Examiner just gave me this heads up!

Stepheniemeyer.com reports that "Chop Shop / Atlantic Records has released a deluxe CD/DVD version of the soundtrack! The double disc soundtrack will feature lots of bonus content including 5 bonus songs, and 30 minutes of interviews and music videos..."
