New Edward and Bella Still from New Moon

Newmoonmovie.org has posted new stills from Twilight Saga: New Moon that appears in the new People Magazine.

Eclipse filming Jasper Flashbacks

One of my favorite Twilight reports, Amanda Bell has posted a picture of a Barn where they're possibly filming Jasper flashbacks.
From the Twilight Examiner:

The consensus seems to be that the scene beign shot involves two
vampires in some sort of dream sequence. Most agree that this is probably
related to Jasper (Jackson Rathbone) and his experience with the character Maria
(which has been cast with Catalina Sandino Moreno).

Eclipse Day 1

Yesterday was the first day of filmming the latest installment of The Twilight Saga, Eclipse. And I have to say I'm VERY EXCITED!!
According to Lainey, they plan to use a wig on Kristen instead of extentions. It may cause too much damage to do all the bleaching they will have to do change the hair color plus extentions....basically she could damage her hair some fierce so I understand not wanting to do the extenstion.

From Lainey Gossip: Shooting began yesterday on Eclipse – am told exclusively that they filmed scenes involving “Jasper & Maria” in a dessert dream sequence that takes place in Texas from way back in the old days, like the 1800s. Jackson’s been training on horseback and so far they say he’s looking pretty comfortable. It’s the natural bow in his legs, non?

And Nikki Reed and Elizabeth Reaser were spotted with shopping bags and seems to be getting irritated by all the attention they're recieving.

Catalina Sandino Moreno to join the cast of Eclipse

Catalina Sandino Moreno has been cast to play Maria the Vampire who changed Jasper Hale (Jackson Rathbone) in the third installment in the Twilight Saga, Eclipse. You may remember Catalina in Maria Full of Grace. I think it's great casting!

TLYDF: Exploring the Jasper Factor

Not long ago, our good friend AngstGoddess003 turned to the Twilight Sisterhood for a little research assistance. We're always glad to help when we can, so I was thrilled to see the results of that with her excellent essay for TLYDF called Exploring the Jasper Factor.

AG delves into the concept of Jasper being the next truly "acceptable" star of fanfiction's future. There are literally thousands of fics about Edward and Bella and recently there has been a surge of next generation fics with Jasper taking the reigns.

She breaks down the different variations of Jasper that we're seeing such as Vampsper, Texsper, Darksper and, one that scares me a bit, Edsper. AG explores what it is about these characterizations, in addition to others, that are so appealing to the readers and what the thought process is behind them from the authors themselves.

Beyond that, AG enlisted the help of the Twilight Sisterhood and others with some questions which I presented to those on our forum. First, she wanted to know if we imagine actor Jackson Rathbone, who played Jasper Hale in the movie adaptation of Twilight, when we read/write Twilight fanfiction. If not, she was curious who we do picture in that role. Then she wanted to know our opinions on which we thought was the cooler power, Edward's ability to read minds or Jasper's power of empathetic manipulation.

Random Reader comment from The Twilight Sisterhood: As for the powers... I think they are both incredibly intrusive; you're either invaded by their thoughts or their emotions. I think I’d have to go with the thoughts, because it is the lesser of the two. I think Edward learned to ignore and tune out the chatter all around him, but they never said anything about jasper being able to ignore emotional surges around him. I’m a very empathetic person, and I know how hard it is not to succumb to the emotions of others when they're running high. I imagine most of the time he's not even sure how he himself feels, he is so inundated with the thoughts around him.

Random Reader comment from The Twilight Sisterhood: The "cooler" power is relative... I think the mindreading thing is cool, but not sure I'd want to live like that the rest of MY life or live with someone else who had that power...so I'd have to choose empathetic manipulation, although I'm a moody bitch, so I'd have to choose C - none of the above...if I had a choice, I'd choose seeing the future like Alice...she has the ability to change the future based on her visions! Way coolest power!

The Examiner's Exclusive Interview with Jackson Rathbone

One of our absolutely favorite guys, Jackson Rathbone, chats up the Twilight Examiner, Amanda Bell. He's quite the comedian and reveals that, much like Robert Pattinson, the chicks led him on his career path. He talks about his character in the Twilight Saga, Jasper Hale, his music with 100 Monkeys, his role in the M. Night Shyamalan film, The Last Airbender, and his philosophy on life, happiness and fame. Great job, Amanda, and thanks for sharing our of love of Jackson.

With his wit in mind, I decided to ask Jackson about a concern that some fans, myself included, had about the potential for inconsistencies between his character in Twilight and New Moon. I asked, “In Twilight, Jasper was dancing around the fire while Bella bled out from her James-inflicted wounds, and in New Moon, a little papercut is supposed to send Jasper over the edge. Some fans worry that this inconsistency will de-legitimize some of the scenes in New Moon. How are you and the crew planning to handle this?” Jackson says,

It’s all in the old saying, ‘Location, location, location . . .’ Once you realize the immense animalistic impulses a vampire has, you realize . . . every little thing is more intense. The smell from a vampire-burning bonfire, the adrenaline from the kill, and the exhaustion from the chase . . . basically, in terms of scent, the difference is between a dance studio filled with smells [of] burning and violence, as opposed to the Cullen Family living room, which is filled with the smell of birthday cake. There is no inconsistency, don’t worry.

I asked Jackson about his upcoming role in The Last Airbender, and how he was preparing himself both mentally and physically for the role. Continuing his knack for repartee, Jackson says, “I’ve been training in various styles of Kung Fu since December, and I love it! It connects the body and mind in a way a textbook could never achieve . . . I can kill from 10 feet away with a spear . . . Purty sweeeeeetttt . . .” Best to stay back, then, fans – not only does his smile deceive, but he also has been brushing up on his martial arts and spearing capacities (that goes for you, especially, paparazzi).

Jackson added to his fans, “I wanna thank each and every one of you for existing! Without you, I’d be acting in an empty theatre . . . again. Much love, and respect.”

I'm wondering if Jackson thought he was having an out of body experience here? At TwiCon San Francisco recently, the loveable Jackson Rathbone took the opportunity to meet his alter ego, Jasper Hale...Hillywood style. Gotta love that smile!
