Casting begins for Eclipse!

Another hot tip from The Twilight Examiner!

Entertainment Weekly reports that director David Slade has begun casting calls for the third installment of the Twilight saga, Eclipse. The epic showdown between the wolves and vamps is sure to be action packed, and they are looking to fill these crucial roles to round out the cast on both sides: Riley, Seth and Leah Clearwater.

Entertainment Weekly describes the characters in their column:

Riley "a handsome, blond, clean-cut college boy who falls victim to Victoria [and] plays an integral role in Victoria's attempt to murder Bella Swan."

Seth Clearwater, a member of the La Push werewolf clan and a "tall, gangly-limbed boy with a huge, happy grin [who] idolizes Jacob."

Leah Clearwater, Seth's big sister, and the only woman in La Push, who is "tall and slender with beautiful skin and short cropped black hair. She would be considered gorgeous if not for the perpetual scowl she carries due to a broken heart and her anger issues.

There have been a few names bandied about for these roles - Channing Tatum as Riley, Brenda Song and Vanessa Hudgens for Leah - but at this point it has all been rumor and conjecture.

Who do you think would fit the bill for these characters?

Okay so I'm only 6% native american....but I would be a great big sister to Seth....we can say I was the secret child Harry Clearwater and the waitress in the diner had together! come on you know it would work!

  2. Ok..Channing might be okay for Riley, but neither Brenda nor Vanessa seem anywhere near right for the part of Leah to me.

  3. i agree with larrami
brenda is korean for one...(although she could play Toph in The Last Airbender)

vanessa um HELLS NO! anyone but her. Leah is scorned, hurt, etc. vanessa playing Leah would be like HSM3..I'd be waiting for zac efron to come in with a song...

Channing..*drools* oops sorry yeah, I could see him as rriley :)

  4. I know this is a novel concept but the casting people really need to stay away from these two as possible choices for Leah and focus on some of the amazing Native American actresses that are out there.

Nikki's friend Sage, did an amazing job portraying the part of "Margret Light Shines" in the Into the West series that was on cable a few summers back. I wonder if they would consider her.

  6. I gotta agree to keep the Disney peeps out of this. I'm thinking they have enough names in the movie to bring in lesser known actors/ actresses. They already have the demographic coming in that Brenda Song and Vanessa Hudgens would bring. They just need to be thinking more about who is perfect in the role, instead of who is popular with tweens.

  7. LOL, GReject, I'd be terrified that Sac Efron would bust out of the woods in song...please NO Disney!!!

Although, half Japanese, I was thinking Mizuo Peck from Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian might fit the bill and I'm hearing that Q'orianka Kilcher of The New World is being considered.

  8. Are you serious? Channing Tatum, Vannessa Hudgens, and Brenda Song???? Horrible judgement on all 3 counts. Brenda song is a horrible actress and I'd rather die than see Vannessa Hudgens in Twilight. As others said..."Keep the Disney Channel out of Twilight!!!" And nothing against Channing Tatum, I know he's a heart-throb for many girls out there but his acting isn't that great either. Pick a wallflower for these parts, big (disney) names are not needed...Twilight can stand on it's own with who it has already.
