Whatcha Wouldn't Do For Your Love of Twilight

You know that everyone of you true Twilight fans have done it. There is no need to hide it or even be embarrassed about it...

You have found yourself actually caring that a silver Volvo has just driven past you, or there was one parked next to you in the parking lot at the grocery store. I know I have... I may have even went so far to take a picture of one that had driven past me and was stopped in front of me at a stop light, only to then text message that picture to my fellow Sister with the following message: Edward is in Long Beach!!! ok ... at least his movie car is!!! (apparently I did not care that it was the one sunny day in Long Beach that we have had in weeks and Edward would be sparkling.)

This got me to thinking: have Volvo dealers embraced this free advertising in our declining new car market? I will say that they have. Google "Silver Volvo". It is okay I will wait here while you do, because you know now that you are curious. Go ahead, you know you want to... Did you see what I did? The whole page is something or another about Edward's Volvo. If you click on the Images section, it is all about our favorite vampire's mode of transportation. So I kept looking for some sort of article or blog talking about how they could not keep Shiny Silver Volvos in stock. I must not be the only one, since there are 48,900 results for the search: "volvo sales twilight". I found this one: http://lehmanvolvo.blogspot.com/2009/04/twilight-phenomenon.html , they may be a little clueless, but a little of something is better than nothing at all....I found other blog posts and posts on discussion boards by people who had test driven Edward's car or dreamed of one day owning one of their very own.

Tell us your "shiny silver Volvo" story we want know what you have done in the name of Edward's car!

  1. Excellent point, E, Twilight has really struck a chord with the car industry in general. Awhile back, I stumbled on these articles from CarJunky.com about the Cullen cars:

I found it so charming that this motorhead knew who drove which car and was actually quoting text from the book!

  4. You know, before Twilight I forgot Volvo's even existed so I definitely had no idea what one looked like. Now, I see them all the time.

I'm glad I'm not the only one checking out the silver Volvos...

  5. before twilight, i thought all volvos were those box-mobiles with the weird hard plastic headrests. in fact, before the movie that's what i pictured when i read the book and i was like w.t.f.

  6. You are not alone, JJ! I found myself shamelessly staring into very darkened windows of Edward's exact car like a frickin' stalker not long ago, knowing damn well that 1. he doesn't really own it anymore 'cause Tyra gave it away and 2. Edward is fictional and wouldn't be in that car f'reals anyway. Didn't stop me though, did it? I think I secretly hoped that Rob was in my neck of the woods and had rented his movie car for nostalgic purposes. *sigh*

  7. I wonder who the lucky sister who received that photo was! ;) So yeah, I pitched to the hubster, that the next car we purchase within the next year HAD to be a SILVER VOLVO. I don't really think he realized what I was saying, but I'm serious! I commute, A LOT, so yeah when I see one on the freeway, I cant help but *smirk*! I'm such an idiot! *hahahaha* So for now, I have a license plate holder to bring me a piece of the Cullens! LOL!

  8. Ok so I'm guilty! I test drove one and was close to buying the C30 myself. The apr was too high for my taste (damn economy), so I didn't buy it. But honestly, they went really low on the car just so I would buy it to even out the apr and cost. I felt I should get a low apr and a low price, so I decided not to buy the car. So yes, I'm guilty!
