Twilight Sisterhood & Twilightish.com Announce our Charity Partnership & Contest!

Here at the Twilight Sisterhood we have asked Twilightish.com us to join us to support a worthy cause to respond to the urgent humanitarian needs in Africa, so we are asking for our readers' help. IWantToHelpAfrica.com's mission statement is as follows:

To aid and support the well-being of Africa and the African peoples individually, socially, financially, politically, educationally, ethically, and spiritually, focusing on the development of individuals, children, families, and African groups that foster these goals.

Currently, there are two projects IWantToHelpAfrica.com is soliciting support for:

1) Zimbabwe - Container Project:

There continues to be an urgent need for almost all the basic necessities of life in Zimbabwe, so we plan to send a second container to Zimbabwe as soon as funding is available and we have sufficient items to ship.

We urgently need substantial quantities of the following:-

• Used clothing - This will be most welcome as winter approaches. (Men, Women and especially child clothes are most needed.)
  


• Shoes and sandals - So many of the people in rural Africa are barefoot, and would welcome any footwear (for both children and adults).


• Toys-Any used toys in good condition and used bikes are also welcomed.


• Blankets & Towels- Any used blankets, sheets and towels are basic necessities needed by the people.
  


• Soap


• School supplies - Books for all levels from Kindergarten to twelfth grade, paper, pencils, rulers (in metric measure), etc are needed.


• Computers - Used computers, preferably with software CDs, are in such short supply. (Remember, local African voltage is 220/240)

**Please consider joining together with a group of family or friends to gather these supplies from your local sources. If you live in the Southern California area , a pick-up of your donations can be made by contacting vanessa@twilightsisterhood.com**

#2) Zambia - Basizana ~ Young Girls at Risk Program:

This project is being run by a Zambian nonprofit foundation. The purpose of the program is to enable young girls to break the tradition of immediately becoming pregnant once they reach puberty, and thereafter receiving no education and being unable to break the cycle of unemployment and poverty. The first project involved building a shelter, which is locked at night to protect the girls so they are safe and secure. Each girl accepted into the project is provided with a mattress, soap, clothing, a school uniform and education, and is protected from abuse and sexual predators. The project began with 12 young girls and is now going to be copied in other small villages.

Maoma Village Basic School:

Another self-help program that we would like to support is called the Maoma village basic school. There is a school in this area, but it is several hours walk miles away from the village, and to get there the children have to walk through a wild animal park. Recently a census was taken of the children in these villages, and it was found that of the thousand children in the area, between six and seven hundred of them were not attending school. In addition, there is no secondary school in this area. The village elders have supplied the land for the new school. Philanthropists in the country are supporting the school by supplying free cement and brick making supplies.

Our help for this school will be both financial and with books and supplies.

Twilight Sisterhood New Moon Red Carpet Premiere Camp Out: Day 3

Well, it’s day 3 for the gals from the sisterhood that are camping out for the New Moon red carpet premiere!

Last night the sisterhood were interviewed on the local Channel 4 NBC news, where they expressed their enthusiasm for the red carpet and also spoke about their dedication to the saga!

Having been camping out since Thursday night, along with a hundreds of

other dedicated fans, sure hasn’t been easy – there’s the cold to deal with, the hunger, having to take shifts to go shower, whistling pedestrians in the early morning, rowdy teenagers at night and some even had to tag out to go to work yesterday and then come back – but their hard dedication has already had some pay off, when last night they were surprised with a special visit from Alex Meraz, Paul from the wolf pack!

Late last night Alex Meraz sent out a Twitter message saying that he heard fans were already camping out and that he was going to swing by and say hello! Needless to say it sent all the fans into a frenzy while they waited for his arrival! When he did arrive, he was charming, and willing to take pictures with everyone and give autographs! Come on Cullen’s – don’t let the wolves steal all your fans – go say hi to the sisterhood!

Meet Marcus Foster

All my Marcus Foster alerts are about Marcus comments regarding his best friend. Screw the friend its all about Marcus (disclaimer: I think his FRIEND is adorable but this is about Marcus)!! Hey audience attendees did you not enjoy the deliciousness that is Marcus Foster? Did they even pay attention to the way that man plays a guitar? WTF people get your head out of the sand and pay attention, I have a story about a man name Marcus, and he hails from London. He finally made a trek to the United States and played at the Hotel Café in Los Angeles for the first time this past Friday & Saturday evening. And let me tell you it was an experience I will never forget.

Ami has been waiting for Marcus to come to the Los Angeles for awhile. All through the show she was completely giddy and singing along. We both were in awe by the time we got in line to speak with him. We aked who he'd like to do a duet with but he had so many names he couldn't choose. He did say he would love to work with Tom Waits since he's his biggest influence but would be too nervous to talk. Yah Marcus we know the feeling.

I thought this picture was so cute I had to include it. He's just seems like one of those guys you would love to have a beer with and joke around.

Like most people I was unfamiliar with Marcus Foster’s music I knew he was one of the co-writers for Twilight’s Let Me Sign but other than that nothing. And instead of going to his myspace page to familiarize myself I decided to wait to see him live when he played at the Hotel Café here in Los Angeles. Still on my high from Bobby Long Wednesday & Thursday night I was excited to see this guy everyone from Larrami to the ladies from the Land of Dreamers was raving out.
How do I describe Marcus Foster?.....He is James Dean and Bob Dylan with a Chris Martin twist all wrapped into one. If you loved Rob Pattinson and his style of music on the Twilight soundtrack then you NEED TO LISTEN TO MARCUS FOSTER. After one song I realized Marcus is who RPattz patterns himself after.
From the moment he walked on stage Marcus owned it, he had the audience captivated. I loved his charismatic antics on stages. In between songs he kept the crowd with witty banter but as he perform you were entranced with his words. I have to say most of the time I was just staring at his hands as he played the guitar and on Saturday night he played the piano for his Tom Waits cover. Yeah my mouth just about fell open at that point.
I'm sorry have we met? I'm Tammy and I'm a picture whore. Of course I got another picture with Marcus. I wanted to go home have a beer and pretend I could play the guitar just like him but we all know I can barely play a chord. This picture will keep me tide over until I see him next time. By the time the ladies from Twilight Sisterhood left we knew we were fans (sadly this fan lost her new Marcus Foster CD due to her drunken ways after the concert! URGH!).

The Twilight Sisterhood Claims Victory Over Letters to Twilight in Twi-Porn Face-Off!

Ahh, yes, it is a beautiful day here at The Twilight Sisterhood as we bask in the glory of complete domination. That's right, we accepted a challenge issued by Letters to Twilight for a Twi-Porn Face-Off and beat them at their own game. We each entered 5 of our best creations and for 3 days our respective readers were able to vote on their faves. However, their readers seemed to be a bit confused and assumed that our awesome entries were "obviously" their handywork. Haha...you know what they say about assuming?

Robert Pattinson's Magic Fingers was the overall winner with 27% of the votes. Our other entries of For Your Pleasure (24%), Breakfast in Bed (19%), Kellan Lutz Baking Goodies (9%) and LTT's entry of Robert Pattinson's Hangover Cure (8%) rounded out the top 5.

So, guess who came over today? A.D.D Cynthia, and she must be rubbing off on me! We are working on some projects when all of a sudden my head snaps up and I say:

Me: "OME, I have a flannel shirt from Build a Bear. Do you think it will fit Chowie?"
ADDC: "YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! Go get it! "He's bringing flannel back! YEAH!"

I run to the room and come rushing back and begin to harass A.D.D's poor doggie.

About midday on Friday, we got an email from the gals over at the Twilight Sisterhood (the ones who inspired our fake extremely real sorority) asking if we were baggin’ on them. Our friendly email banter back n’ forth turned hardcore & suddenly we forgot our adult ways & went all 8th grade cheerleader on each other. LTR gals were in varsity while The Twi sisterhood girls stayed in JV, of course. Then Billy & Joey lifted me into the air into a split-lift & saw my Edward Cullen underwear & told all the football players in the locker room. Good news is a couple of them asked me to the dance Friday night. Take that JV cheerleaders from the Twilight Sisterhood! How many offers for sweaty-hand 13 yr old boy dancing did you get today?

Well, we have to respond. What do we do, members of LTT’s to-be-named-fake-sorority? How about we bring back that “good ol’ feeling” with a nice, old fashioned bake off Rob-Porn-off? Yep! It’ll be just like your grandmother used to do with her girlfriends, except that intead of baking with whipped cream and cherries we’ll be captioning pictures with things we’d like Rob to do with whipped cream & cherries (bake us a pie, duh!)
Unfamiliar with Rob Porn? Well, it’s a concept we came up with on 2/12/09 (yes, long before any of the other sites who have ripped it off & called it their own started it) where we show Rob doing or saying things that make us melt (like vacumming, feeding little kids & cleaning the litter box). Just like that “Porn for Women” book everyone has seen & loves. But this is LTT- let’s not discriminate! Let’s extend this to ALL Twi-men. Have a hankerin’ to photoshop a rose into Buttcrack Santa’s teeth and stick him on a tango stage? Be our guest!
Rules: Each team (LTT vs. Twilight Sisterhood) will submit 5 photos of any of the Twi men saying/doing something that women just love. Final 5 choices will be due at the end of the day next Tuesday. Hey girls,
Ok so I haven’t done this in awhile, I mean the Pom-Poms were put down years ago and I’m a little out of practice, but I think it’s really cute how you want to have your own lil’ sorority over there! You definitely have the sisterhood “spirit” and by spirit I mean bitchiness ; ) ! Now don’t get your underoos in a bunch, have a snack pack, settle down and listen. If you think you are big enough to play with the Big Dogs, then I don’t see any harm in this little competition. Of course, I don’t know the legality of the matter when it comes to porn and underage tweens in Junior High but I’m sure we can step it down to a PG13 level for the sake of competition. The Sisterhood has some of the filthiest minds out there in the Twiuniverse, especially when it comes to the Cullen boys, but “I’m sure we can handle that”. We understand it can get a little frustrating being in the shadow of big sisters and that you want to constantly prove yourself. So here you have it, you now have the opportunity to play with the grown-ups. We accept your challenge, but we hope you can handle defea….I mean may the best Sisters win, and by best I mean “The Twilight Sisterhood”!

Rob’s Bringing Flannel Back! *Yeah!* Another Adventure with A.D.D Cynthia!

*The following events are true! Nothing has been changed to alter the following story you are about to read*

Some of you may remember A.D.D Cynthia who made her debut back in May when I wrote about our adventure at the Convention in Los Angeles. http://twilightsisterhood.blogspot.com/2009/05/memoirs-of-twilight-sisterhood-twihard.html
Last night A.D.D.C and I had dinner outside in the patio enjoying some conversation. Though she is a BIG time Laker fan, she was getting too distracted and needed to unwind a little. Here is what occurred after we finished eating:

ADDC- “Hey lets play a game!”
Me-*laughs internally and says, oh no, here we go* “Ok, what?”
ADDC-“Ok, lets play, ‘What would Rob say?’”
Me-*chuckling* “Oooh kayy”, quirking an eyebrow.
ADDC- “So, either you or I pretend we are ‘ROB’ and the other asks some ridiculous question in a serious manner and then we would answer as if we were ‘Rob’. Here are some examples.”

Some of the questions she asked with a COMPLETELY SERIOUS FACE:
“How was it kissing Cho Chang?”
“When you were fighting the dragon during the competition, what was going through your mind during that task? Was there a moment where you thought, ‘I cant do this?’?
“Rob, I read somewhere that I am a “smart” fan, because I know Hollywood doesn’t impress you, do you agree? Am I smart then?”
“We know you are 90+ years old, during the years you must have learned some impressive dance moves. How did you break it down in the 80’s? Can you show us?”
“Rob, I run this site called, www.icanmakeanyonelooklikeharrypotter.com, I have this sharpie and glasses with me. I know that if I draw the lightning bolt on your forehead and you wear the glasses, I CAN make you look just like him. Look this is me *shows him a picture* See? Don’t I look just like him? …Do you accept my challenge?”

These were among some of the questions that I remember, because I was too busy laughing and shaking my head and not believing I was about to engage in this game. A.D.D.C, went first as Rob and I asked my ridiculous question. Like a pro, CynRob answered with full accent and all, all the while keeping a straight face. My line of questioning went on for about 2 minutes, before it was my turn. We took turns for 20 minutes or so and after laughing and being complete goofballs it was my turn again to be Rob, when this happened:

ADDC- “Rob, do you feel that you deserve 25% of profits from flannel sales in the United States?”
Me: *raking my fingers through the top of my head and doing the infamous RPattz mouth* With a horrible attempt at an English Accent, “Actually, I would agree with that statement seeing as how ‘I’m bringing flannel back’ *mind you I said this in the tune of Justin Timberlake’s “I’m bringing sexy back”.
A.D.D.C trying to keep a straight face as the interviewer and me trying to break her, I just busted out in song and dance.
Me- DANCING: “I’m bringing FLANNEL back! *YEAH!* All them boys want to look like a sexy lumberjack! *YEAH* Dirty babe…..I’ll be Brawny man and miiiissss-beeehhhaavvve.”

Um yeah, at that point the "interviewer" and I decided to completely make up lyrics for about half the song , OH YEAH one more thing, we added dance moves and part of our choreography included us pretending to be “lumberjacks” and sawing a tree in half, you know with those HUGE SAWS you use opposite of each other?! Once we were in sync with our movements we kept the song going! WHY? I DON’T KNOW!! All I know is that seriously, who does this? A.D.D Cynthia, that’s who, and she sucked me into it! But let me tell you, NEVER a dull moment when that A.D.D kicks in.
A.D.D Cynthia feels inspired and wants to run her own segment of, “Ask Rob?” She will be more than happy to answer all of your Rob questions!

TLYDF: Exploring the Jasper Factor

Not long ago, our good friend AngstGoddess003 turned to the Twilight Sisterhood for a little research assistance. We're always glad to help when we can, so I was thrilled to see the results of that with her excellent essay for TLYDF called Exploring the Jasper Factor.

AG delves into the concept of Jasper being the next truly "acceptable" star of fanfiction's future. There are literally thousands of fics about Edward and Bella and recently there has been a surge of next generation fics with Jasper taking the reigns.

She breaks down the different variations of Jasper that we're seeing such as Vampsper, Texsper, Darksper and, one that scares me a bit, Edsper. AG explores what it is about these characterizations, in addition to others, that are so appealing to the readers and what the thought process is behind them from the authors themselves.

Beyond that, AG enlisted the help of the Twilight Sisterhood and others with some questions which I presented to those on our forum. First, she wanted to know if we imagine actor Jackson Rathbone, who played Jasper Hale in the movie adaptation of Twilight, when we read/write Twilight fanfiction. If not, she was curious who we do picture in that role. Then she wanted to know our opinions on which we thought was the cooler power, Edward's ability to read minds or Jasper's power of empathetic manipulation.

Random Reader comment from The Twilight Sisterhood: As for the powers... I think they are both incredibly intrusive; you're either invaded by their thoughts or their emotions. I think I’d have to go with the thoughts, because it is the lesser of the two. I think Edward learned to ignore and tune out the chatter all around him, but they never said anything about jasper being able to ignore emotional surges around him. I’m a very empathetic person, and I know how hard it is not to succumb to the emotions of others when they're running high. I imagine most of the time he's not even sure how he himself feels, he is so inundated with the thoughts around him.

Random Reader comment from The Twilight Sisterhood: The "cooler" power is relative... I think the mindreading thing is cool, but not sure I'd want to live like that the rest of MY life or live with someone else who had that power...so I'd have to choose empathetic manipulation, although I'm a moody bitch, so I'd have to choose C - none of the above...if I had a choice, I'd choose seeing the future like Alice...she has the ability to change the future based on her visions! Way coolest power!
