Bobby Long Debuts 2010 Tour at SxSW

Singer-songwriter Bobby Long is finalizing plans for a return to American shores that will include his first appearance at SxSW in Austin in March. The 24-year-old Brit, whose 2009 “Dangerous Summer” tour of the U.S. and Canada comprised some 100 shows and was extended through the end of the year, is about to embark on a three-week European tour that will include shows in Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark and the Netherlands as well as an appearance in London.

Long, who plays a Gibson J200, has begun recording his much anticipated debut studio album with producer Liam Watson (The White Stripes’ “Elephant”) at the helm. It is targeted for an early summer release. He has sold over 10,000 copies of his 10-song collection of original material called Dirty Pond Songs that he recorded in his bedroom to make available exclusively at his shows. “Left to Lie” and “The Bounty of Mary Jane” from that CD are available for download from iTunes and other digital outlets. “Let Me Sign,” a song he co-wrote with Marcus Foster, is included on the American Music Award-winning soundtrack of the blockbuster film “Twilight.”
Fans first discovered Long’s compelling brand of acoustic music via the film, YouTube and his continually-updated MySpace page, which surpassed one million views last summer. Music critics and selected radio programmers have jumped on the Long bandwagon early, praising both his songwriting and his style:

“With raw vocal power and smart, evocative lyrics, Long is a folksinger with a spirited intensity that puts him outside and above the masses of singer-songwriters roaming our cities, towns and social networks.” —blogcritics.com

“Long has a likable, rough-hewn voice, a catchy way with a chorus and a style that evokes early Bob Dylan.” –Boston Herald

Bobby Long’s confirmed 2010 U.S. dates are as follows: March 12—WXPN Free at Noon live broadcast, Philadelphia; March 13—World CafĂ© Live Upstairs, Philadelphia; March 15—Mercury Lounge, New York City; March 16—Poor David’s Pub, Dallas (Yep, I'll be at this one!!! -C); and March 17- 21—SxSW Music Conference, Austin, TX. The complete 2010 tour will be announced shortly.
